Kidney disease is one of the deadliest diseases in the world. So we need to know about the prevention and treatment of kidney disease.
Kidney is one of the most essential organs of human body. The human body has two kidneys on either side just above the waist. In adulthood a kidney is 11-13 cm long, 5-6 cm wide and 3 cm thick. A kidney weighs about 150 grams. However, the left kidney is slightly larger and slightly higher than the right kidney. Each kidney is made up of about 12 lakh nephrons. The nephron is the functional and structural unit of the kidney. When these nephrons are damaged for any reason, the kidneys quickly become useless.
Kidney disease usually affects two kidneys at the same time. Numerous biochemical reactions are constantly taking place in our body. The contaminants produced by these reactions are absorbed into the bloodstream. And the kidneys filter the blood through its filters and expel contaminants (urea, uric acid, ammonia, creatinine, etc.) from the body with the urine. In this way the kidneys protect our body from toxic and harmful wastes. In addition, the kidneys have other functions.
Kidney disease is so severe that it spreads very slowly without any signs or symptoms. That is why it is called the silent killer. Sometimes a patient can have up to 50 percent of his or her kidneys damaged before he or she realizes any symptoms. Since there are many types of kidney disease, its symptoms are also different.
The main symptoms of kidney disease are sudden decrease in the amount of urine, changes in the amount and quantity of urine especially at night, excessive urination, excess foam in the urine, blood and protein in the urine, accumulation of water around the eyes and ankles, burning in the urine and abnormalities. Odor, increased anemia, headache and body itching, nausea, stones with urine, swelling of the whole body including hands, feet, mouth, glomerular filtration rate less than 90.
